Everything we get asked before a business commits — grouped by what you are trying to find out. If your question is not here, our team will answer it directly.
Getting started
What is EncoderPOS?
EncoderPOS is point of sale and business management software. It brings billing, inventory, purchases, customers, suppliers, branches, accounting and reporting into one system, so daily retail operations run from a single place instead of a till, a spreadsheet and a separate ledger.
What businesses can use EncoderPOS?
Any business that sells stock over a counter or a wholesale desk. It is used for supermarkets and grocery, pharmacies, cosmetics, electronics, cafés and bakeries, fashion retail, hardware and wholesale — the modules are the same, the configuration differs.
Can I import my existing products and customers?
Yes. Products, categories, suppliers, customers and opening stock can all be imported from a spreadsheet during setup, and our team will help you map the columns.
How long does setup take?
A single shop with a spreadsheet of products can be billing the same day: import the catalogue, set opening stock, add users and open the register. Multi-branch chains with existing ledgers usually take longer, and onboarding and data migration are included on the Enterprise plan.
Can I try it before paying?
Yes. Every plan starts with a 7-day free trial with no card required, and you can move your data to a paid plan without setting anything up twice.
Selling and the counter
How fast is billing at the till?
The till is keyboard- and barcode-first: scan, adjust quantity, take payment, print. Held carts let a cashier park an unfinished sale and serve the next customer without losing the first one.
Does EncoderPOS support barcode scanning and label printing?
Yes. Billing is barcode-first and works with USB and Bluetooth scanners. You can also generate and print product barcodes and shelf labels from the catalogue on any USB or Bluetooth label printer.
Can one sale be paid by more than one method?
Yes. Cash, card, bank transfer and customer credit can be split across a single sale, and each part posts to the right account without a second entry.
Can I give discounts on a single line or the whole invoice?
Both. Discounts can be applied to an individual line or to the invoice total, and permission to discount is controlled per user.
Does EncoderPOS work without an internet connection?
Yes. The point of sale keeps billing while the connection is down — sales are stored locally and sync automatically the moment the network returns, so the counter never stops.
Inventory and purchasing
Does EncoderPOS support inventory management?
Yes. Stock is live across every branch and moves the moment a sale, purchase, return or transfer happens. Products support variations, batches, expiry dates, serial numbers, reorder points and a full movement history.
Will it warn me before something runs out?
Yes. Set a reorder point per product and low-stock items surface on the dashboard and in the low-stock report, so reordering happens before the shelf is empty.
Can I manage suppliers and purchase orders?
Yes. Raise purchase orders, record goods received against them, capture supplier bills and add landed cost, so each unit is valued at what it actually cost to get onto the shelf.
Does it handle returns to suppliers as well as from customers?
Yes. Customer returns raise credit notes and purchase returns go back to the supplier — both move stock and post to accounts automatically.
Branches, staff and accounting
Can I run more than one branch on the same account?
Yes. Every branch keeps its own stock, pricing and staff, while the owner sees a consolidated view and can compare any two branches side by side on one screen.
Can I control what my staff can see?
Yes. Roles and permissions are granular: decide per user who can discount, void a sale, view profit figures, edit purchase prices or open the register.
Can I track customers and their outstanding balances?
Yes. Each customer has a ledger with credit limits, installment plans and full buying history, so the balance on the screen is the balance you can ask about.
Does EncoderPOS include real accounting?
Yes. There is a complete, international-standard chart of accounts with double-entry journals, ledgers and period close built in — sales, purchases and payments post to it as they happen rather than being reconciled afterwards.
How does EncoderPOS calculate profit?
Cost is taken from what each unit actually cost when it sold, recorded on the sale line — not today's purchase price. Returns are netted off, so profit and product rankings stay honest.
Reporting, data and pricing
What reports does EncoderPOS provide?
Sales, profit and loss, tax, stock and stock movement, cashier shift, customer and supplier ledgers, and branch performance. Every report exports to Excel or PDF in a click.
What hardware do I need?
Any modern computer or tablet with a browser. EncoderPOS supports USB and Bluetooth barcode scanners, thermal receipt printers, cash drawers and customer displays.
Is my data backed up?
Your data is stored on managed, encrypted infrastructure with automated daily backups of the entire system database, and you can export any report to Excel or PDF whenever you want a copy of your own.
Can I get my data out if I leave?
Yes. Products, customers, suppliers, sales and every report can be exported to Excel or PDF at any time. Your records are yours.
How is EncoderPOS priced?
Three plans, billed monthly in Pakistani rupees: Starter at Rs 2,500 for a single shop, Growth at Rs 6,500 for up to three branches, and Enterprise priced to the chain. Annual billing saves two months, and prices exclude applicable taxes.
