Barcode Scanning and Label Printing

A barcode is the shortest path between a product and a correct invoice line. EncoderPOS uses them at the till, in the stockroom and on the shelf edge.

Scan to bill

Billing is built around the scanner. A scan adds the line at the right price for the right branch, so the cashier is confirming a sale rather than searching a product list. USB and Bluetooth scanners both work with no driver to install.

  • USB and Bluetooth scanner support
  • Correct branch price applied on scan
  • Keyboard fallback for products without a barcode

Print your own barcodes and shelf labels

Products that arrive without a barcode — loose goods, repacked items, your own brand — get one generated from the catalogue and printed on any USB or Bluetooth label printer. Shelf labels print from the same screen with the current price on them.

  • Generate barcodes for products that lack them
  • Print product labels and shelf-edge labels
  • Any USB or Bluetooth label printer

Identifiers that follow the unit

Barcodes sit alongside SKUs, batch numbers, expiry dates and serial numbers on the product record, so a unit can be identified from the purchase order that ordered it to the receipt that sold it.

Barcode & Labels — common questions

Which barcode scanners work with EncoderPOS?

Standard USB and Bluetooth scanners work without extra drivers — they behave as keyboard input to the billing screen.

Can I print barcodes for products that do not have one?

Yes. Barcodes are generated from the catalogue and print to any USB or Bluetooth label printer, along with shelf labels showing the current price.

Does EncoderPOS support serial number tracking?

Yes. Serial numbers, batch numbers and expiry dates can be tracked on the product record from purchase order through to sale.
